Ingredients
Ingredient | Amount/Equipment |
Chicken Fries | 1 lb. ground chicken, Smart Chicken |
Salt | ½ teaspoon |
Onion Powder | ½ teaspoon |
Garlic Powder | ½ teaspoon |
Olive Oil | 1 tablespoon |
Eggs | 2, whisked |
Cornstarch | ⅓ cup |
Paprika | ¼ teaspoon |
Black Pepper | ¼ teaspoon |
Panko Breadcrumbs | 1.5 cups |
Vegetable Oil | 2-3 cups, for frying |
Baking Tray | 1, lined with parchment paper |
Mixing Bowl | 1 |
Plates for Breading | 3 |
Frying Pan | 1 |
Paper Towels | 2, for absorbing excess oil |
Directions
- Line a baking tray with parchment and put the paper on it then aside. Add the ground chicken to a large or medium mixing bowl. Sprinkle it with some slides:
- Garlic powder
- Onion Powder
- Salt
- Add one or two tablespoons of olive oil if you like and mix everything until it is well combined.
- Wet your hands with the clear water and form the chicken fries. You want them to be about ¼ – ½ inch thick in diameter and about four to five inches long. Place your fries on the parchment paper. I was able to get fifteen to sixteen fries. Place the fries in your freezer for twenty to thirty minutes.
- Add some slides:
- Salt
- Ccornstarch
- Paprika
- Black Pepper
- Get another plate. Then add the two whisked eggs to the plate. Next, add my favorite Panko Breadcrumbs to a 3rd plate.
- When the fries are easily frozen mix the fries through the cornstarch mixture, then the whisked egg, followed by the panko breadcrumbs. Repeat this process for all white chicken making sure the all sides of the fries are well-breaded.
- Warm a neutral oil in a large saucepan to three hundred twenty-five to three hundred thirty (325-330) degrees. I used vegetable oil you can use your favorite cooking oil.
- Add two to three fries at a time making sure not to overcrowd the saucepan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown on the all sides and cooked through to at least one hundred and sixty five to one hundred seventy (165-170) degrees Fahrenheit.
- Place the golden brown fries on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
Variations and Customizations
Herb Infusion
I can test with various herbs and spices to infuse the chicken homemade fries with special flavors. Think of using thyme, and oregano.
Cheese Stuffed
Upgrade the chicken-loaded fries by filling them with cheese before breading. Mozzarella or jack cheese are excellent options but I prefer mozzarella cheese to jack cheese.
Storage
Store any leftover fries in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for at least four to five days.
Serving With Chicken Fries
You can serve these fries with the following other delicious, yummy, tasty sides:
- Green beans
- Steamed broccoli
- Rice Pilaf
- Garlic bread
- Corn on the cob
- Side Salad
