Directions to Make Chicken Over Rice

Follow my easy and simple steps to make this wonderful dish:

Marinating the Chicken Over Rice:

Cut your chicken into small size pieces in a bowl, and add the chicken and all the marinade ingredients.

Making the White Sauce:

Get a medium bowl and mix all of the ingredients for the white sauce then put them in the refrigerator also keep in mind that during the mixing in the bowl if you feel your sauce is going too thick then simply add a little bit of water and mix it well until it is of a more drizzle consistency to use with the recipe. You can make this sauce while you marinate your chicken thighs and let them sit around for a moment so the taste of the garlic comes into the sauce.

Cooking the Rice:

Get another small bowl or saucepan then add the butter in it and make it melt. Also add in the saucepan salt, turmeric, and cumin. Roast for 1 to 2 minutes and then add in the rice. Saute for 1 to 2 minutes or until the rice slightly browns. Add in the salt and broth (or water). Bring everything to the boil, then immediately cover it with a lid and bring the heat to low. Cook for about 10 to 15 minutes or until the water is rapt.

Cooking the Chicken:

While your rice cooks, cook your chicken. Place a small pan on the stovetop warm it up and then add 1 or 2 tsp of oil into the chicken, then cook for 2 to 3 minutes from one side and then change the side to cook for 2 to 3 minutes then flip it again. Keep repeating until the chicken is fully cooked.

Plating the Platter:

First, sprinkle the rice out on your plate. Then add the chicken to one side and the lettuce and tomato to the other side.

White Sauce

You can prepare white sauce easily for this dish and to do so simply take a bowl and combine the following items in it:

  • Light Mayo
  • Lemon Juice
  • Parsley
  • A Pinch of Salt

Fluffy Yellow Rice

Numerous methods exist for preparing rice, however, in this particular recipe, we will be preparing it on the stovetop. Various halal carts prepare yellow rice in different ways, so this recipe will be quite simple. I prefer using long-grain basmati rice for this dish as it is commonly used at Halal Carts and yields the best texture. If basmati rice is not on hand, any other type of rice will work for this recipe.
