Take a large bowl and add the following items to make a mixture:

  • Flour

Get another bowl add melted butter and water together and whisk to combine then pour this butter mixture into the flour mixture and combine everything well.

Now remove the dough from the bowl onto a counter make sure to sprinkle some flour on the counter before putting the dough on it then knead it for about a minute if you feel necessary add some flour to prevent sticking and when the dough is ready put it back to the large bowl covering it with a plastic wrap set it aside and jump to next step to prepare the chicken.

Step 2 – Prepare the Chicken

Put your chicken into a large Dutch oven also add chicken broth and pour that much broth so that the chicken can easily dip in it set it on the stove and bring a boil on low heat cover the Dutch oven and simmer the mixture for about 30 minutes or till the chicken is ready.

Step 3 – Roll out the Pastry

Now make thin strips of the dough while the chicken simmers so on a surface sprinkle some flour on it roll out the pastry and make thin strips using a knife you can also get help from a pizza cutter or pastry cutter.

Step 4 – Shred the Chicken

Take out the chicken from the Dutch oven and before shredding it bring broth to a boil add pastry strips to the oven ensuring the heat is on low settings then simmer it but stir often for about 15 minutes till the pastry is tender now put the chicken into a large bowl and with the help of two forks shred the chicken into small size pieces and separate it from bone and the skin.

In the last add the chicken to a pan and cook it for 10 minutes more make sure this time cook the chicken without covering the pan and when the broth is thick season with salt and pepper then garnish it with thyme or parsley and serve to enjoy.
