How To Make Jamaican Chicken Soup From Scratch?

This soup is super easy to make just follow my instructions step-wise:

Making of Dumpling

You can mix the salt and flour with water to make a dough, mixing it well and when the dough is still, you can separate it into small pieces to make round flat dumplings, here add the salt according to the taste.

Preparing the Soup

Step 1

Take a big soup pot and place the chicken in it along with the following ingredients:

  • Pimento (allspice)
  • Onion
  • Scallion
  • Garlic
  • Thyme
  • Corn
  • Salt

Now add water to the pot and after covering it, cook it for about 10 minutes.

Step 2

Now add the following ingredients with boiling water in the pot:

  • Pumpkin
  • Carrot
  • Chocho
  • Yellow Yam
  • Dumplings

Make sure to add enough water so that it covers all the items in the pot.

Step 3

Stir the mixture of soup and include scotch bonnet pepper keeping in mind not to cut the pepper just add it as a whole.

Step 4

Cook all the ingredients in the pot for about 50 minutes while the pot is covered. At this time, you can stir occasionally but be careful that the pepper should not break and when the water in the pot starts to bubble, adjust the flame to low.

Step 5

When the soup gets some color then taste the soup and if salt is required more you can add it according to the taste now take out the pepper at this time and your soup is ready to serve.

Notes

To make the soup more spicy you can break the pepper in the soup at the last few minutes before getting the soup pot off the flame so that the pepper taste and spiciness can mix in the soup mixture, but remove the pepper when you are going to serve it.
