Olive Oil | 2.5 tablespoons |
Salted Butter (divided) | 5 tablespoons (56 grams) |
Water | 0.63 cup |
Lemon Juice | 0.31 cup |
Finely Grated Lemon Zest | 1.25 teaspoons |
Salt (extra for seasoning) | 1.25 teaspoons |
Freshly Ground Black Pepper | 1.25 teaspoons (or as desired) |

Directions to Make Limone Chicken
- To create thin cutlets, slice the chicken breasts in lengthwise then pound them between plastic sheets.
- To get more tender chicken brine the chicken in salty water for about 15 minutes, remove it from the brine wash it with cold water, and pat it dry you can use paper towels as well.
- Get a bowl put flour in it season it with salt coat the chicken in the flour shake off any excess from the cutlets.
- Take a large skillet put it over medium heat put in half the butter and oil.
- After heating the oil and butter add chicken breast cutlets in the skillet in batches cook for about 2 minutes from each side.
- Sprinkle pepper and salt on cutlets when you turn them and when the chicken breasts are ready put them onto a plate.
- Now lower the heat and then put the remaining butter, lemon zest, water, and lemon juice into the skillet.
- Simmer the mixture ensuring to stir well and also remove the bits from the pan.
- Again put chicken into the skillet and cook for about 3 minutes or till the sauce is thick.
- Your dish is ready and serve it with some extra lemon slices you can garnish with parsley if you like.
Substitution
Dairy-Free
If you want to make this dish dairy-free then skip the butter and use only olive oil however by doing this the taste will be different so you can make it daily but will be still good enough if you use only olive oil then make sure it is of good quality.
Gluten-Free
You can use arrowroot or cornstarch in replace of all-purpose flour and your recipe will be gluten-free.
Variations of Limone Chicken
Garlicky – You can add garlic powder to the flour to get a garlicky taste if you like to consume garlic.
Lemon Caper Sauce – In the sauce, you can add a few spoons of capers which also results in a unique and wonderful flavor.

Storage
